About The Peninsulaires

For more than 75 years, The Peninsulaires have been bringing the joy of barbershop harmony to the Bay Area. We're a vibrant community of men who share a love of four-part a cappella singing — and a belief that music has the power to enrich lives, build friendships, and bring communities together.

Based in the Palo Alto–Mountain View area, we perform across the region year-round: from holiday shows and community events to barbershop competitions on the district and international stage. Whether we're making an audience laugh, bringing them to tears, or just filling a room with beautiful sound, we love every minute of it.

We're more than a chorus — we're a family. New members are welcome at any experience level. If you can carry a tune and you're curious about barbershop, there's a place for you here.

Meet the Team

  • Curtis Mannah

    DIRECTOR

    Curtis brings deep musical expertise and genuine passion to the Peninsulaires. A music educator with a degree from California State University, Fresno, Curtis has led choirs on performance tours to Southern California and Washington D.C., appeared on the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Contest stage three times, and directed multiple choruses across the Bay Area. He currently teaches for the Hayward Unified School District and lives in the Bay Area with his wife Pamela.

  • Matthew Boman

    PRESIDENT

    Matthew brings both passion and a drive for excellence to his role as president, drawing on his experience as a member of San Francisco's renowned Fog City Singers. He's been a key force in modernizing how the Peninsulaires operate — pushing the chorus to grow, improve, and reach its full potential.

  • Eliot Rubinov

    VP OF CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT

    Eliot has a natural gift for making people feel welcome. As VP of Chapter Development, he's the friendly face that helps guests find their footing and makes sure no one falls through the cracks on their way to becoming a member.

  • Mark Torrance

    VP OF MUSIC

    The VP of Music directs the chorus’s music division—setting artistic vision, building the catalog, and defining market position.

  • Shishir Bhat

    BOARD SECRETARY

    Shishir brings the same precision to the Peninsulaires' records that he brings to his work as an engineer at Rivian. He keeps the chapter running smoothly behind the scenes.

  • Bruce Boman

    TREASURER

    Bruce has been part of the barbershop community for many years and brings that same dedication to keeping the chapter's finances in order.

  • John Kotz

    VP OF MARKETING

    John leads the Peninsulaires' outreach efforts — managing our social media, website, and promotional materials to help grow our community. A software engineer at Apple, he brings a sharp eye for what connects with people.
